Victor
The idea of not knowing what to say and when to say it, conflicts what the mind and heart both really mean. Choking on your words, constantly saying “that is not what I meant,” “don’t be offended by this,” “don’t take this the wrong way,” etc. When reading the page, I found a few words
that really stuck out. The idea that love is just a concept that not everyone really believes in.
In Design 1, I tried to look at it as “sewing your lips shut” as term my mother would use because I was too honest as a child. Although the design was very simplistic, I wanted something much more complex. Something that would engage the audience even more. I decided to go with Design 2. But instead of a digital feel, I went with a more Connect and visual concept. I used sewing as a way to connect the words and ink to really show the depth of the image. The woman choking herself was engraved into the page.
The way the string is sown is very loose representing the way the words first come out. Representing the confession of victor. But the much more organic lines represent the true meaning behind his words, the fact that he has given up on love.
